Webpage design Specifications and Requirements:
Because I have a small office, and I am physically unable to
travel to your location, I request that all customer
communications be through E-mail, postal or by phone.
All information that is to be included in your web page should
be transmitted to me via E-mail, in the exact descriptive form
that you want displayed. I state this only because I don’t claim
to be a writer and to allow me total creative license for your
page would not be to your advantage. I do require permission to
occasionally adjust text to format the page properly.
All photographs used on the web page should be owned by and be
provided by the customer. I prefer all photographs be in a
digital format, preferably in either jpeg, jif or other standard
photo format. If digital photographs are not available I have
the capability to scan photographs or other images into a
digital format with little noticeable loss of detail. Your
photographs will be returned to you when I have finished with
them.
Describe in full what the purpose of your page is and want you
want it to look like. Review several of the web pages that I
have designed for features you like (I have linked them at the
end of this page) or send me a link to a page you have seen that
has features you like, so I may be able to model some of these
features into your page. List any special links to other web
pages that you require. It is most important that I have all
information you want to have included in the web page before I
begin the design work, as content will dictate design. I will
design your page using Frontpage 2003, the latest web design
software from Microsoft; therefore I should be able to use any
Frontpage feature that is available. Hold nothing back, I will
not be offended. My own personal preference is to include
royalty free midi music on my pages if appropriate, but I have
done several business pages where it has not been a preferred
option. You have final design approval of your page before
payment for my design work is due.
Probably one of the most important steps in building a web page
is choosing the right domain name. To assist in the selection
of a domain name I have found the domain name selection features
of
godaddy.com to be the easiest to use. Select a name that is
available and have it ready when you place an order with me.
Do not order your domain name though godaddy, as a
free domain name is included in the initial server
order. Use godaddy only as a source to determine if the name is
available.
On an initial order, the Web server and domain name must be
ordered through me. I require that all pages I design and
service, be hosted by
Powweb.com. You will need to provide me the domain name you
have selected as well as your credit card and contact
information. You can personally contact me, so I can enter the
required registration information directly I can take the
required information from you over the phone. Domain name and
server time charges must be paid in full prior to beginning
construction of your page.
Usually within 24 to 48 hours after placing an order with
Powweb, they will publish a page on the web announcing your page
as “ Site under construction” As soon as I see this I will
replace this initial page with a more descriptive page.
When ordering a webpage through me, unlike with other webpage
designers; you will own the server time and domain name.
They will be registered in your name. You therefore have
total control to change design firms, with no hassle about who
owns the web page, domain name or server space. If you decide
that I am not providing an acceptable product or I become
physically unable to provide a service for you, all you would
need to do is change the pass word with Powweb.com to lock me
out. I will provide you with all the information required to do
this.
Since you will be the owner of the domain name and the web host
server contract, you will be notified by those companies
directly when renewal fees are required to continue their
service. In the future these are the only 2 bills you should
receive, unless there are any additional charges we may have
contracted for., concerning your webpage.
Use caution when considering purchasing outside sources to
advertise your webpage. Most are scams. As a service I advertise
all my pages through a free service that the web hosting server
provides as well as I will send a direct request to MSN, Yahoo
and Google and Alta Vista to pick your page up. Normally it
takes about a month after announcing the page before the major
search engines start to post your page as they will not publish
sites under construction. In the mean time the page will be
readily accessible by the world on the www. I can not guarantee
that all search engines will pick up all pages, nor how fast
they will be picked up.
