Diane and Don

A Visit to New Hampshire and the Southern Maine coast near Portsmouth

This slide show begins  with a picture of a close friend of mine, Bill Rogers whom I first met when I worked at  Pyronics. Bill is a combustion engineer and salesman for a company that has a special nitch in that  it manufactures industrial  furnaces that can reach temperatures in excess of 5000 degrees  F. The company and Bill are located near Epsom, New Hampshire. Bill was my old fishing buddy when I still owned my share of the Conflict Alert. Bill besides being a smart man  always enjoyed good food He always knew  where the best food was to be had.  Even though the weather did not corporate the day we were visiting, Bill took us for a tour of the small New Hampshire coastline  and up the coast of Southeastern Maine. As you can see, the sea was quite rough but we did see some kids out with their surf boards Some of the pictures taken in the restaurant showing Diane and Bill sucking the meat out of the little legs of a poor lobster, are disgusting, and I recommend turning away when they come up,

The home Bill built is a prefabricated  home, built for the northeast weather. If he hadn't told us that it was built in a factory somewhere in Maine, we would not have known  it was built  in pieces and just screwed together. on his foundation. He has a full basement, at least 3 bed rooms and indoor plumbing.  I shouldn't joke about plumbing as my cousin still has a 100 foot run to his special  house in his log cabin down in Southern Ohio. Bill has 2 acres of land with a small river as his rear property line. His home sits about 15 feet above the water line, so he should not have too much of a problem with flooding, normally that is.  Recently though the entire Northeast has just had about 6 days of steady rain . I  will call Bill before I publish this to find out how high the water got.

I am back. No answer. When I called, a sweet  canned voice said Bill was unavailable, but if I wanted  I could leave a message if I desired.  I hope that means  he was out eating  his evening meal at some fancy truck stop, or  maybe having a special night out  with the sweet voice, but maybe that means he has been has been washed away  in the floods.as I fear.  The sweet canned voice would only  say Bill was unavailable she would not  answer any of my questions. I think that is all what would be said if you were washed away. Its sad but Bill Rogers was a good friend.

Glory be , Bill called this morning to advise the homestead was still there, the water had made it to his fire pit which is located at about  his basement floor level. The only  water he received in the house was about an inch on the basement floor due to backup from the cellar drain. During our talk Bill did not mention where he was last night so I can only assume that I was right he was having dinner and or maybe desert with the sweet voice from the phone.
