As you look at this slide show of our gift exchange that wondrous Christmas and later at the airport as Amie prepared to return to Richmond, you might notice it appears that we were having a family contest that year. The contest rules were simple. See who could make the funniest face for the camera. Don tried but not good enough, Mom was right in there doing her best and I just looked my natural self. Aunt Huntz, Uncle Ed and Lee stopped in to see if they could get into the contest, but as you can see they didn't have a chance. They were outclassed. The clear winner, unanimously picked by all the people who reviewed these pictures for the contest, was AMIE. She obviously deserved the award for her superbly conceived " I am listening to you mom " face she showed us as we waited for her airplane at the airport. As I remember it, all Diane was trying to say that cold afternoon was "watch out for those slick Virginia college boys, as your dad and I worry that they could be up to no good". Actually both mom and dad were hoping that a certain Virginia Tech boy would soon be asking the magic question. "What's for dinner?" We had learned the Tadpole started thinking of an other pond., after Amie and Tom met at a Halloween costume party in Richmond in 1994. Ironic isn't it, I believe it was nearly the same time of the year in 1969 that I met Diane, not at a Halloween party, but that's another story for an other slide show. And since the truth will always win out, and the truth is the frog is not always right. I must confess I am sometimes wrong. Not all Virginia Tech boys are bad guys. I was and am still am proud to welcome a Hesbach to our pond. You might notice, it appeared in 1999 there were no dogs or cats in the Lamoreaux family only us Frogs. |
