Hound Dog

This is a slide show take from some of the first pictures we took of Minnie.

I guess I should explain Minnie's first owners  were Porte Rican. They were having marital problems and the husband kept the dog. We first heard from a friend of Diane's at the Nursing home where she worked, around Christmas. that a friend that had a dog that he wanted to give to a good family because he could not keep it in the apartment where he lived. Then he decided he wanted to keep the dog as he was moving in with his brother.

I guess the brother could not get along with the dog so It was almost April he again called his friend to see if we were still interested in taking the dog.  We said yes. He said he would bring her over around 6 that evening. Well 6 came and went, Finally the phone rang, he had had car trouble. So about 9 PM this little runt of a dog entered our lives. The big feet in the stockings were a close friend of ours Bev Smith from Florida who was visiting. The only advice the original owner had was , any time you took her someplace new she would do Number 2 in the house.  As I was turning around to say we would work on that, I looked at a steamy pile of fresh ____ deposited under the piano. Minnie and I came to an agreement that night , I agreed  I would never give her away to another stranger, and she agreed not to _____ in the house any more.
I believe I mentioned she came from a Spanish family. That was a problem for a while as all she wanted to do was sit in front of the TV and watch the Spanish stations. She knew no English. You could tell the way she would perk up when something about dogs were mentioned on the TV. That was about 1998 or 99. We took her to the vet for a check up and found that the veterinarians  staph remembered he from when she was a pup. They said she was the runt of the litter but was the friendliest of all her brothers and sisters.
